MAR 21, 2005 (newstodate): Serbian carrier JAT is grounded by a strike over payments among its flight engineers since Thursday.
The strike adds to the airline's plights that recently forced the state to intervene by planting a temporary management to replace the former leadership that had not been able to secure stability and progress in talks with unions and staff.
Serbia's Minister for capital investments said the strike comes at a most damaging time as the deadline for a limited financing of the airline expires within less than 10 days.
He also warned that legal measures will be taken against the illegally striking flight engineers.
