MAR 23, 2005 (newstodate): Star Air, a subsidiary of Danish-owned Maersk Air, has taken over its first of 11 converted Boeing 767-200 freighters on a lease agreement with GECAS.
The first Boeing 767-200 will start operations this month, the second aircraft will join by April, and the remaining aircraft will be delivered sucessively until May, 2006.
Star Air operates European routes under a long-term contract with UPS, based at Cologne Airport.
Excess capacity will be sold to other customers, primarily for operations in Europe.
