MAR 18, 2005 (newstodate): New privately-owned Lithuanian airline Amberair is planning for start of scheduled services from May this year.
-Right now we are performing charter flights only operating one SAAB 340B aircraft, says Algirdas Barteska, Amberair Deputy Director General.
-As scheduled services would obviously need more capacity to secure operations, we are currently negotiating with SAAB Aircraft Leasing for our second SAAB 340 aircraft, he says.
Within only few days the company, managed by a group of legal and private entities of Germany, Netherlands and UK, will announce its future route network, frequencies and other details, and from April 1 Amberair will accept reservations and bookings on its flights, and airport handling contracts will also be settled.
Amberair received its SAAB aircraft in December, 2004, and was granted its AOC on January 2, 2005, followed by the Air Operating License on January 9, 2005.
