FEB 22, 2005 (newstodate): Winglets may be the future also on Russian aircraft.
Tupolev and Russian airline UTAir have jointly tested bent wingtips on a TU-154 aircraft, and results show that the aircraft saved some 800 kilo of jet fuel over its 5,000 km flight.
This translates into fuel savings around 2.5-3 percent.
