FEB 09, 2005 (newstodate): The market for international deliveries in Western Europe is expected to grow at a much faster pace than the domestic sector and reach a value of Euro12 billion by 2008, according to a new report by indepedent market analyst, Datamonitor.
Datamonitor's "European Express Market Map 2004" research forecasts international volumes, measured by the total number of individual parcels delivered, will rise from 1 billion today to 1.3 billion by 2008 - 13.4 percent increase on 2004 levels.
-The recent eastern expansion of the EU and the ensuing liberalisation of markets is leading to a single European market where national boundaries will become less important. Cross-border delivery flows between EU countries are already on the rise, and set to increase by 6 percent in the next four years in Western Europe alone. In this sense, it will be key for international express players to secure a strong network structure in Europe in order to capitalise on the opportunities offered by the new EU, says Emilio Pedrinaci, courier and express analyst at Datamonitor and author of the report.
