FEB 04, 2005 (newstodate): Kazakhstan's capital airport has officially opened its new international terminal.
Based on funding by a Japanese loan, the 25,000 sq.m. terminal is designed to meet the needs of international transfer and transit passengers that the airport hopes to attract in increasing numbers.
Also part of the airport's modernisation are a new runway, navigation and communication systems, and aircraft servicing and maintenance facilities.
Air Astana has been selected to manage the new terminal.
