FEB 11, 2005 (newstodate): Airport alignment to the needs of the Airbus A380 in commercial traffic from May, 2006, means significant investments.
Munich Airport, that was among the first to declare ready for A380-operations, has so far invested some 400,000 euro in five aircraft docking positions.
Munich expects to see the A380 during its test flight program already, beginning this summer.
Investments at Frankfurt Airport will run much higher.
The airport will spend some 100 million euro on reconstruction work on aircraft gates, while another 38 million euro will be spent on adjustments to the taxi runways and aprons.
Frankfurt plans for at least eight A380 parking positoins before 2007, while the total number will go up to 11 by 2010, and 20 by 2013.
