Dec 1, 2005 (newstodate): Cooperating with Canadian consultants, Croatia's Zagreb Airport is now in the finishing stages of finalising a new masterplan for airport development and construction of a second passenger terminal.
-We hope to be ready before the end of this year, and recomendations will then be made to the Croatian government, says Damir Vince, Zagreb Airport adviser to the general manager.
-One of the remaining issues is the question of access to the airport and the new terminal as this involves passage through land currently under the control of the the Croatian ministry of defence.
-We hope to clear up this remaining snag, and after the masterplan has been approved by the government, we can next start preparing the tender documentation for construction of the new second terminal.
-I would expect us to publish this international tender by June or July next year, slightly earlier than previously envisaged, says Mr Vince.
An earlier tender drew the participation of 23 companies, but the tender was annulled due to unsolved problems with the access permits.
