Dec 7, 2005 (newstodate): Belgrade Airport is readying for the reopening of the long-awaited route between Belgrade and New York.
Investigators from the US Transportation Security Agency have already performed audits of the airport's security and the training of Police and airport security staff in special security measures required by the US FAA.
According to sources, the joint operations by JAT and Uzbekistan Hava Yollari is imminent, and the route will be served twice weekly, using Uzbekistan Hava Yollari's A310 aircraft.
The route was originally planned to to start this year already, but the start was postyponed after the downrating by FAA of Serbia's aviation safety.
