Dec 16, 2005 (newstodate): On December 15, Billund Airport, in western Denmark, set a new record as it broke the 50,000 tonnes mark for the first time in its history.
In 2004, the airport generated a total of 48,500 tonnes, which was surpassed on December 1 this year already.
The growth in cargo volumes this year - 8.1 percent by November - is mainly driven by an increase at 11.2 percent, while exports are up 5.3 percent.
Imports now constitute 49 percent, and exports 51 percentof total volumes.
