Dec 16, 2005 (newstodate): The Taiwanese government hopes to raise the issue of cargo charter flights with China after the Lunar New Year holiday.
This year the two parties agreed on a total of 72 round-trip charter flights by six Taiwanese airlines and six Chinese airlines between January 20 and February.
Despite some efforts, the issue of cross-strait cargo flights was not included in the agreement, but hopes are that the passenger charter flights will pave the way for continued dialogue on allowing direct cross-strait cargo flights as well.
