Dec 12, 2005 (newstodate): Pending finalisation of the remaining funding issues, a Croatian group is working hard on the setup of a new low cost, longhaul airline, to be based at Zagreb.
-Investment is right now the single top-priority issue, but beyond this we are already fairly advanced in our preparations for establishing the new airline, says a project spokesman.
-We expect to be able to launch the airline within four months after the finalisation of the funding issues, and we are right now seeking a director flight operations & safety to work out the necessary materials and procedures required to seek our AOC, he says.
-We are also monitoring the market for an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, but as this is hard to find in the current market a Boeing 767-300 might served as a temporary solution, he says.
The projected airline will compete with Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines that are now the main players for longhaul flights in the Balkan markets.
The new project is connected with Dalmatian Holidays.
