Dec 22, 2005 (newstodate): Bulgaria will finally join the EU common airspace agreement in 2006.
The official signatures to the agreement will be added early in 2006, and the agreement will take full effect from 2007.
With the agreement, Bulgaria will become fully integrated in the EU airspace, and all EU-based airlines will be able to operate in the Bulgarian market withour prior governmental approvals, while securing the same rights for Bulgarian carriers in the EU markets.
The liberalisation in the air traffic market will add further importance to the privatisation of Bulgaria Air that is being targetted by Hemus Air for an eventual merger of the two carriers into one powerful Bulgarian airline.
