Dec 16, 2005 (newstodate): British Airways World Cargo takes an optimistic view on its performance in the Finnish air cargo market in 2006.
-Following the introduction of Airline Services as our GSA in Finland, BA World Cargo has successfully started to penetrate the market, with several bookings already taken as agents begin to make use of our global network, says John Cheetham, BAWC Area Commercial Manager NW Europe.
-We expect to see continual growth in this market throughout 2006, he says.
BAWC named Airline Services GSA as its cargo GSSA in Finland with effect from September 1 after a period without representation February 15, 2005, when a cargo sales agreement with Finnair Cargo was cancelled.
In addition to the general problems by British Airways World Cargo from the troublesome implementation of its Ascentis terminal, the long period with week or no direct representation in the Finnish market cost the company dearly in market share.
