Dec 22, 2005 (newstodate): Airbus has expanded its involvement in Russia's aerospace industry through large orders with Russian companies IRKUT Scientific Production Corporation and Voronezh Aircraft Production Association, VASO.
The work packages for aircraft of the A320, A330/A340 and A380 Families will be worth USD200 million over ten years to Russia, which means doubling the already contracted volume.
The first deliveries of the sub-assemblies and components from IRKUT and VASO to Airbus sites will begin late 2006/early 2007.
These orders rises expectations about an imminent decision by Aeroflot for ordering a batch of 22 Airbus A350, rather than Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
This order may be announced before the end of this month already.
