Dec 8, 2005 (newstodate): Airbus' order book for the new long range aircraft A350 now totals 164 orders and firm commitments from 12 customers.
Last to order the new aircraft that will enter commercial service in 2010 is Finnair that yesterday announced its decision to buy nine A350-900, with options for another four aircraft.
Airbus' CEO earlier said that he would be surprised if the A350 does not land 200 orders in 2006.
Boeing's rivalling concept, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner that is slated for delivery from 2008, still leads the competition, though, with orders and firm commitments for a total of 309 aircraft from 25 airlines worldwide, including 241 firm orders.
