Nov 16, 2005 (newstodate): Aeroflot Cargo's GSA in the German market, Transnautic, reports strong and ever-increasing demand for uplift capacity to the Russian and CIS markets.
-As cargo GSA for Aeroflot, we do not sell only capacity on the airline's DC-10-40F freighter flights out of Frankfurt Hahn, but also the cargo capacity on Aeroflot's passenger flights out of Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf, Berlin and Hamburg, says Hendrik Boeyng, Transnautic general manager.
-Aeroflot uses a mix of Airbus A320 and Airbus A319 on these routes into Moscow Sheremetyevo, and with a total of 11 daily flights this accrues to about 150 tonnes per week, depending on passenger loads. Most other airlines operating from Germany to Russia fly smaller passenger aircraft with little cargo capacity, so Aeroflot's belly-hold volumes are much in demand.
-About 90 percent of the airfreight is destined for Moscow, but cargo is also transferred to other Russian and CIS destinations.
-The recent launch of one Aeroflot freighter flight to Moscow Domodedovo has also proved an immediate success in the German market that generated more than 30 tonnes on the first flight, November 14, says Mr Boeyng.
Aeroflot holds 49 percent of the shares in Transnautic, the rest remaining with the original seafreight company Transnautic.
