Nov 21, 2005 (newstodate): Taiwanese carrier China Airlines has announced plans for taking a share in the stakes of a cargo unit of Hainan Airlines.
The carrier earlier cancelled negotiations with China Eastern Airlines Cargo for a stake in the carrier.
Cargo volumes through Taiwan are reportedly shrinking as traffic relocates to the Chinese mainland instead rather than transiting through Taiwan, warranting China Airlines' interest in following suit with a change in strategy.
