Nov 21, 2005 (newstodate): Singapore Airlines Cargo is seeing encouraging business from its services between India and the Nordic markets.
-On the westward flights from Delhi and Bangalore towards Copenhagen Airport the volumes as high as expected, reflecting the boom in Indian exports to Europe, says Kim Irmov, Singapore Airlines Cargo regional manager Nordic and Baltic region.
-On the eastbound legs, the situation is also as expected, meaning considerable efforts required to gradually building up volumes in a new market that was previously mainly served by trucking into continental hub or non-IATA ad-hoc freighter operations.
-But we are seeing promising signs and early results above cautious budgetting. And as this is the first scheduled direct freighter option to India out of the Nordic market, we are also seeing customers that were not expected as they were not earlier included in the statistics when trucking their shipments out of the Nordics.
Singapore Airlines Cargo operates once weekly from Copenhagen to Delhi, and once weekly to Bangalore, with two SQ Cargo flights out of Brussels as a back-up in the latter case.
