Nov 8, 2005 (newstodate): After a stalemate since this summer, talks have been resumed between NAP, a joint venture between Swedish CAA and Airis, and SAS Cargo on the building of a new SAS Cargo Terminal at Stockholm Arlanda.
-We have been through a period of conflicting signals, but the parties have now returned to the table and set up a project group to agree on a long-term solution to the issue of SAS Cargo's future location at the airport, says Karsten Bjarbo, LFV Stockholm Arlanda cargo manager.
-It is of course desirable to all parties, including the freight forwarders, that the need for long on-airport tranfers between terminals is minimised. It is after all a cost to be borne, and adds complexity in handling.
Mr Bjorbo expects the talks now resumed to produce an agreement even before the end of this year.
In the meantime, work is progressing on the construction of two other cargo terminals at the airport - one for Swedish Post, and another for FedEx.
Both of these are slated to become operative from the end of June, 2006.
