Nov 25, 2005 (newstodate): After the demise of Air Lithuania, the Lithuanian carrier DOT will serve the route between Palanga and Billund from December 2, 2005.
The route will be served four times weekly with ATR-42 aircraft.
-DOT has initially taken over one of Air Lithuania's two leased ATR aircraft, and we might very possibly take the second aircraft as well, says Jesper Rungholm, captain, president and owner of Danish airline DAT that also owns a major stake in DOT.
-DOT is also preparing to take over operations on the former Air Lithuania route between Palanga and Hamburg, in competition with Amber Air that operates SAAB 340 aircraft, he says.
According to Mr Rungholm, DOT will however not be interested in operating Air Lithuania's planned route to Oslo.
At the time of the carrier's grounding, Air Lithuania was to start a wet-lease operation in Spain, and DOT will now consider the viability of taking over this operation as well.
DOT has also engaged Air Lithuania's former route manager, Ruta Matijosaityte to continue her services under the new conditions.
