Nov 24, 2005 (newstodate): North Atlantic Cargo, a project for a new freighter service from Norway to the Far East, is currently under preparation.
As part of the preparations, the group behind the initiative is currently investegating the market for lease of an MD-11 or DC-10-30 freighter.
-We are very cautious at this state not to evoke too much attention as there are obviously a very wide range of issues that must be solved before a final decision can be taken. But we are progressing according to plans and are confident that there is a need for more cargo uplift towards destinations in the Far East, says a project spokesman.
Both Aeroflot, Korean Air Cargo, and from October: Lufthansa Cargo/Japan Airlines Cargo operate DC-10 and Boeing 747 freighters on routes from Oslo with NOrwegian fresh salmon to the Far East, totalling six departures per week.
