Nov 10, 2005 (newstodate): From November 9, Lithuanian carrier Amber Air has added airfreight to their business.
-We have now opened cargo sales on our route between Palanga and Hamburg, says Darius Gintautas, Amber Air Commercial director.
-While this is not our main business, it is a natural move to capitalise on avaible space in the cargo hold, but it of course depends on the concrete passenger load on each departure. We will aim at the market for mail and small express packages that fit the capacity of the SAAB 340, he says.
Amber Air has named Interekspresas its GSA and cargo handling agent in Lithuania, while sales in the German market has been contracted to Air cargo Support & Services, based at Hamburg Airport.
Amber Air currently operates two Saab 340B aircraft. One is used for scheduled flights between Palanga and Hamburg, while the other is operated on charter flights within Russia and EU.
