Nov 18, 2005 (newstodate): Moldova's Cahul Airport is to be rectivated after several years in decline.
It is now to be equipped with passenger facilities enabling it to serve an increasing number of international passengers.
The formerly state-owned airport started operations in the 1980'ies with irregular charter flights to Ukraine, Romania and Turkey.
In 2004, a German investor bought 51 percent in Cahul Airport that is now undergoing major renovation and has applied for certification from the Moldovan State Civil Aviation Administration.
Moldova's two other international airports, both state-owned, are Chisinau International Airport and Balti Airport.
