Nov 11, 2005 (newstodate): On November 9, the Swedish company Online Air Service introduced its new route from Stockholm Arlanda to the Kurdish destination Erbil, in Iraq.
-The launch flight was performed according to schedule with 70 passengers on board, says a company spokesman.
The next flight is on November 23, and after that a weekly flight is planned until the program gains momentum.
The initial market is Sweden, but plans are to expand into the entire Scandinavian market to cater to the needs for ethnic traffic, governmental traffic and travels by aid organisations.
On the first leg from Stockholm to Istanbul Swedish charter airline Nordic NR Regional AB operates an MD-80 aircraft, and Iraqi Airlines then flies the onward leg to Erbil with Boeing 737/727 aircraft.
