Nov 3, 2005 (newstodate): In September, Gothenburg Airport saw its cargo volumes down by 10 percent y-o-y, to 5,600 tonnes.
Exports were down by 14 percent to 2,413 tonnes, while imports dropped by six percent to 3,187 tonnes.
For the first nine months of 2005, volumes are down by 10 percent to 42,079 tonnes, with exports down 23 percent to 17,245 tonnes, and imports up by two percent to 24,834 tonnes.
This year's sustained decline in volumes is primarily due to Polar Air Cargo's shift of operations from Gothenburg to Malmoe Airport, Lufthansa Cargo and Japan Airlines Cargo's start of a new freighter service from Oslo to Nagoya relocating shipments of salmon for Japan away from Gothenburg.
