Nov 17, 2005 (newstodate): On November 15, Deutsche Bahn signed a purchase contract to acquire all shares in Bax Global Inc.
Deutsche Bahn already owns Schenker and sees the new acquisition as a strategic move to bolster its logistics capability, notably in the Asia/Pacific markets.
Number 1 in the USA in the heavy general cargo business, Bax has more than 500 offices in over 130 countries with a total of 12,000 staff.
-With Bax, we will significantly expand our position in air and sea freight, which are particularly important for the global supply chains that are constantly growing in demand, says Thomas Held, Schenker Chairman and CEO.
