Oct 13, 2005 (newstodate): Lithuania is to construct a new passenger terminal at Vilnius Airport, targetting an entry into service by 2007.
On October 11, the Board of the Ministry of Transport nodded the project, detailed by Lithuanian consulting company Forma after an initial tender.
A tender for the construction project will be opened later this year, an airport representative says.
The planned terminal will accomodate three million passengers annually, and also secure Vilnius Airport's compliance with Schengen rules.
Since the country's entry into the EU by May 2004, the airport has seen its traffic booming, with monthly statistics showing increases by 20-25 percent.
During the first nine months of this year, the airport has processed 996,09 passengers, up 32.2 percent on last year.
