Oct 19, 2005 (newstodate): Turbulence seems to have hit the Icelandair Group again, as Ragnhildur Geirsdottir, president of FL-group, says she will resign her job if the purchase of Sterling goes through.
The information was given during an interview on Iceland's TV on Tuesday.
The chairman of the board, Hannes Smarason, sent a note to the Icelandic Stock Exchange Tuesday morning that the negotiation about the purchase of Sterling was in the final stage, and an announcement would be forthcoming any day now.
When the purchase is completed, the FL-group will be reorganized into four major sections, namely Icelandair, Sterling, FL- Invest, and Aircraft Leasing, sources say.
The board turbulence that is widely considered a consequence of the board chairman's special style of leadership caused shares in the cmopany to fall slightly at the Icelandic stock exhange.
