Oct 12, 2005 (newstodate): In September, Finnair's cargo traffic increased by 2.9 percent in terms of cargo tonnes carried.
Volumes on scheduled traffic increased by 3.8 percent, driven by growth in the Asian traffic by 12.6 percent.
The overall growth was slowed down by the European traffic that increased by 3.1 percent only, while cargo volumes in the North-Atlantic traffic decreased by 26.3 percent.
Cargo traffic carried on Finnair Cargo's chartered cargo flights decreased by 1.8 percent.
The overall cargo load factor was 66.1 percent, boosted by the cargo load factor in the Far Eastern traffic at 81.5 percent, while 83.2 percent in the North Atlantic traffic.
In light of the high load factor and the steep increase in Asian traffic, the relatively moderate overall cargo load factor implies a very low and falling level in Finnair Cargo's European route network, while the decrease in North American volumes coupled with a high load factor implies a strict continuous adjustment of freighter capacity.
