Oct 27, 2005 (newstodate): Russian airport Kurumoch International Airport sees obstacles to its quest for a share of the world airfreight market.
-Air cargo is admittedly not our core business, but we would of course very much like to see its growing from its currently rather low base, says Svetlana Kozlova, Kurumoch International Airport PR officer.
-The slow growth mainly derives from the "explosion" in world aircraft fuel prices, and the subsequent decline in cargo rates and the general recession in air cargo volumes.
The largest international airport in the Volga region, Kurumoch has invested in equipment enabling it to handle both containerised and palletised air cargo.
