Oct 25, 2005 (newstodate): In October, Russian Nairobi-based carrier Astral Aviation entered its sixth year of operation.
Operating a fleet of AN-12 freighters, the carrier started, in 2000, with its first Antonov-12 flight from Mwanza to Nairobi with fish fillets bound for Europe for its inaugural client, Anova Foods from Holland, while the return sector was used to carry mining cargoes for the mining industry in Tanzania on behalf of Panalpina agent Interfreight East Africa.
Astral continues to operate this route, which has seen extensive two-way traffic, generating morethan 10,000 tons of fish fillets and 8,000 tons of mining equipment shipments.
