Oct 13, 2005 (newstodate): Riga-based Latvian forwarding company Spedair expects to break ground this week for the construction of a new cargo terminal.
Spedair has rented 3,816 sq m from Riga Airport, and the multi-functional terminal will be situated next to Baltic Cargo Centre handling SAS Cargo, airBaltic Cargo, and Lufthansa Cargo.
The new facility including office space will provide facilities for handling of dangerous goods, live animals, radioactives, explosives, and be quipped with refrigerators and freezers for perishables handling and storing and temperature-controlled shipments.
-Frankly, faster development of the project was expected, and only this week an official ceremony will mark the start of the construction work. The opening of the new terminal is planned for next summer, 2006, says Inga Brasla, Spedair manager
