Oct 20, 2005 (newstodate): After another major top-level reshuffle, the Icelandic FL-Group has now restructured its management.
The major shareholder and chairman of the board, Hannes Smarason takes over as CEO after Ragnhildur Geirsdottir, who reportedly stepped down in protest against the imminent acquisition of Sterling, reportedly expected to be announced any time now.
Among the changes now in effect, the new Icelandair Group will handle international airline operations, including Icelandair, Icelandair Cargo, Loftlei�ir-Icelandic, Bluebird Cargo, Icelandair Technical Services and Icelandair Ground Services.
Jon Karl Olafsson, Icelandair CEO, has been appointed Icelandair Group CEO, heading about 2,000 people generating a combined turnover of some ISK 35 billion.
