Oct 12, 2005 (newstodate): On October 11, the Faroe Islands' Vagar Airport has its first visit by an Airbus aircraft.
An Airbus A319 in the livery of LAN performed to operation to demonstrate the aircraft's ability to operate in the very demanding conditions of Vagar Airport that has only a 1,200 m runway surrounded by high mountains.
While the flight was focussed on the operational features of the operation, the aim could also be to demonstrate the aircraft type to Atlantic Airways as a potential customer.
Atlantic Airways currently operates a fleet of two BAe 146-200 aircraft on routes to Denmark, Norway and the UK.
