Oct 31, 2005 (newstodate): Serbian carrier JAT is expected to receive its first Airbus A319 aircraft by next summer.
Uncertainty long shrouded the airline's decision on whether to go for Airbus or Boeing aircraft.
In 1998, the former Milosovic government signed an agreement with Airbus on the purchase of eight A319 aircraft slated for delivery by 2005.
In 2004 JAT was however close to a deal with Boeing instead for acquisition of eight Boeing 737-800, and the lease of two Boeing 767ER aircraft.
But in September, JAT's General Director Nebojsa Starcevic visited France to sign a new deal with Airbus for delivry of a reduced number of A319 aircraft.
