Oct 18, 2005 (newstodate): Boeing and Airbus are set to clash again in competition for orders from Polish LOT-owned budget airline Centralwings.
The carrier is expected to make a decision on new aircraft before the end of the year, and competitors are Boeing 737-700 and Airbus A319, sources say.
Orders for up to 24 aircraft are at stake by Centralwings, owned by LOT and currently operating five Boeing 737-300 and -400 aircraft.
Centralwings earlier said it plans to operate some 15 aircraft by 2010, and now serves 15 destinations in Europe.
A partner of Centralwings, Lufthansa-owned Germanwings recently ordered 18 A315, and Hungarian lcc WIZZ Air also recently placed orders for 12 A319 and A320 aircraft.
