Oct 25, 2005 (newstodate): As part of its medium-haul fleet modernisation programme, Aeroflot has signed a contract with Airbus for the purchase of seven A321 aircraft.
The aircraft will be delivered from the fourth quarter of 2006, and they will be introduced on the carrier's European and domestic networks.
Aeroflot was the first Airbus customer and operator in Russia, introducing an A310 in 1992, as well as the first CIS airline to operate the A319 and A321.
Aeroflot currently operates eight A319, seven A320 and three A321 aircraft.
Aeroflot has a fleet of 90 planes, 27 of which are of western-made.
