OCT 05, 2005 (newstodate): Slovenian carrier Adria Airways is seeing a brish development in its air cargo business.
-In 2004, we carried a total of 3,530 tonnes of air cargo, up no less than 92 percent on the preceding year, says Adrijana Selj, Adria Airways Corporate Communications.
-For the period January-September our total cargo volume was 2,147 tonnes of cargo, up 84 percent on 2003.
-Our target is to increase cargo traffic by 15 percent annually, and this includes plans to further expand cargo operations to our destinations in southeastern Europe in connection with our destinations in Europe, Ms Selj says.
As a first initiative launched September 23, Adria Airways offers a thrice-weekly cargo route between Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Sarajevo, Bosnia-Hercegovina, operating a wet-leased LET-410 Turbolet freighter with 1.5 tonnes cargo capacity.
Via Ljubljana the cargo flights connect to Adria Airways' network offering same-day onward flight transportation to destinations including primarily Frankfurt.
