JAN 31, 2005 (newstodate): Danish ATM systems provider, Terma has landed an order from the Airport Authority of India for 11 datalink-based ATIS systems.
The D-ATIS system gives pilots the option of accessing weather information via radio channels or data link, eliminating the need to manually copy long ATIS messages.
The 11 D-ATIS systems at geographically dispersed sites will be connected via a wide area network. Each site comprises a main server and a hot standby backup server with a remote operator position.
Terma ATM's ATIS systems, in data link and voice configuration, are already implemented at international and regional airports in six Asian countries.
