JAN 06, 2005 (newstodate): Relief operations are building up at Billund Airport, Denmark.
-Relief operations started from December 30, and since then we have had seven freighters destined for the Asian disaster areas, says Jan Ditlevsen, Cargo Center Billund's manager.
Mr Ditlevsen says the airport is currently planning for another four or five relief freighter flights this week.
According to Mr Ditlevsen, the freighters handled include one AN-124, one Royal Air Force C-17, one Hercules, in addition to several IL-76, DC-8 and MD-11F flights.
The cargo centre also serves as a palletisation point for shipments trucked into other airports, including one shipment of 100 tonnes ex-Amsterdam, and another 40 tonnes ex-Frankfurt.
