JAN 14, 2005 (newstodate): Russian state-owned airline Pulkovo will cease operations under its own name and be merged with Rossiya later this year, Russian government officials say.
With some 41 commercial jet aircraft, Rossiya has served as the country's VIP carrier while also serving the general aviation market.
30 of Rossiya's aircraft will be transferred to the new joint airline, tentatively called Soyuz, that will also take in Pulkovo's 40 Russian-built aircraft and all route licences of both airlines.
It is not known what will happen to Pulkovo's Boeing 737 orders.
