JAN 24, 2005 (newstodate): Staunch Boeing aircraft operator, Malev has now phased out its last remaining Boeing 737 Classic, relying entirely on a new generation fleet.
At present Malev operates 16 of Boeing 737 New Generation aircraft, with another two to arrive in 2005.
After its fleet replacement program closing by this April, Malev will have a fleet comprising five Boeing 737-800, seven 737-700, and six 737-600 aircraft.
Malev says its aircraft maintenance costs will decrease by 15 percent, while operational costs will go down by about 15 percent, and fuel consumption will drop some nine percent.
