JAN 14, 2005 (newstodate): Lot Polish Airlines vehemently refutes easyJet and SkyEurope's allegations of preferential treatment in regard to slots allocation at Warsaw Okecie's ETIUDA terminal.
The lowcost operators claim that the slot allocation is unfair and biased, and have attributed this to the slot coordinator's employment by LOT.
-The facilitator is employed by LOT Polish Airlines, but his employer does not interfere with his/her activities as a facilitator, and these activities are not specified in the scope of his/her competence. The facilitator obtains no remuneration for such activities. The law does not require structural independence of the facilitator from an airline, LOT says in a statement.
-LOT Polish Airlines are in no way privileged in the process of facilitation. The facilitator advised, for instance, more than 800 changes, already implemented, in the programme planned by LOT for summer 2005 at the Okcie airport in Warsaw.
-The activities of the facilitator do not aim at supporting LOT Polish Airlines or dependent carriers, including Centralwings. None of them intends to operate from ETIUDA terminal in summer 2005. The EU law envisages the option of retortion against carriers from the countries in which the provision on facilitation or co-ordination are violated.
