JAN 24, 2005 (newstodate): After assessing the experience from the Denmark - Faroe Islands Christmas trial flights, DAT has decided not to resume traffic during the Easter period.
The airline reports positive passenger feed-back and satisfactory load factors, but says the future of its Faroe Islands service will probably hinge on the availability of an aircraft larger than the ATR-72 to achieve a profitable operation.
If DAT finally decides to commit itself to the North Atlantic market, operations will not be resumed before late spring.
DAT's decision is probably also influenced by the Faroese carrier Atlantic Airways' recent decision to boost its flights operations significantly from this spring, leaving less room for competition.
