JAN 26, 2005 (newstodate): In a JV with Larsen Architects, Danish consultancy firm COWI has landed a major order for construction of two new international aiports in Oman.
The larger of the two airports, Seeb, will serve the capital Muscat and the northern Oman region. On completion the airport will have an annual capacity of 12 million passengers.
The second and smaller airport, Salalah, to be built in southern Oman, will have an annual capacity of two million passengers.
Both airports will be completed by the end of 2008 with the capacity of handling aircraft up to the size of Airbus A380.
The JV will implement every phase of the project from planning to building inspection. The Government of the Sultanate of Oman has also nominated Copenhagen Airports A/S to provide its expertise to the JV.
