JAN 31, 2005 (newstodate): Last week was merciful on both major aircraft manufacturers, Boeing and Airbus thanks to Chinese operators.
Boeing received an order for 60 Boeing 7E7, now officially renamed 787, from six Chinese carriers Air China, China Eastern, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Shanghai Airlines and Xiamen Airlines. The order has a joint value of about USD7.2 billion.
Airbus scored a new Airbus A380 customer as China Southern Airlines and China Aviation Supplies Imp. & Exp. Group Corporation signed a General Terms Agreement with Airbus for the purchase of five A380 aircraft.
Air China also announced its decision to buy 20 Airbus A330-200 aircraft at a list price of about USD2.86 billion.
