JAN 27, 2005 (newstodate): Stockholm-based European Aeronautical Groups electronic Route Manual has received CAA approval for navigation without paper backup.
After a year's operational tests, the German and Austrian Civil Aviation Authorities have approved EAG's electronic charts product for operational use without paper back up. These are likely to be the two first approvals of their kind also outside Europe.
The EAG was formed by SAS Flight Support's acquisition, in 2002, of Thales Aeronautical Services Group and the merger of the two companies.
