JAN 28, 2005 (newstodate): Armenian airline Armavia posted good results for 2004.
The airline lifted a total of 431,000 passengers, up 42 percent, and generated 1,500 tonnes of air cargo, representing an increase of 40 percent.
Measured in tonne-kilometres, the airline trafficked three million tonne-kilometres, against two in 2003.
Armavia added new flights to Ashkhabad and Tehran. Besides, Armavia started flights from "Gyumri" airport to Rostov-on-Don, Anapa, Mineralniye Vodi and Stavropol on May 21, 2004.
Basing on the performance in 2004, Armavia intends to strengthen its position in the market for transit air transportation from Armenia to Europe, America and Far East, as well as to increase transit flows from Siberia and Far East through Zvartnots airport to the countries of Middle East, Europe and CIS.
In February and May, 2004, Armavia added two A320-211. The fleet currently comprises four A320, besides one TU-134 and An-24 aircraft.
