SEP 21, 2004 (newstodate): On September 14, Bulgarian authorities closed down the offices of low-cost operator Bexx Air and withdrew its operating permits.
The operator feels the decision highly unjustified and has offered a 1,000 euro reward for any information leading to the people who paid and the ones who have taken any bribe for providing background for what they consider misuse of legal power.
The airline says it will restart operations from November 8.
Bexx Air sold tickets via the internet for transportation to European destinations, provided by privately-owned Bulgarian Hemus Air.
Bexx Air maintains the position that the government intervention was caused by a decision to support instead the state-owned airline Bulgaria Air, poised for privatisation in 2005.
